Like so many of our clients, this couple went house hunting and couldn’t find what they were looking for, so they tasked us to dream up a concept for their apartment that had to be as fun and quirky as they were.

We had so much fun working with Stacey and Max on their home because they were game for pretty much everything and had such great taste themselves. In the living area, an expansive plywood banquette is perfect to maximize space for dining and offer more work-from-home spots, and it’s so functional for smaller spaces short on storage. We splurged on the backsplash tile from Japan, which has such a big impact in the modestly sized 70s green kitchen. We carried the plywood into the bathroom’s features (it’s a shame you can’t see the speckled green and pink floor tile in person) and one of our favourite moments is the circle cut-out in the master bedroom, a space for wallpaper, decals or whatever the homeowners’ fancy. This home is such a great example of how colour and risk-taking always pays off.

For more photos and insight, you can follow along with Stacey’s entire renovation journey in her series, Renovation Diaries, at Western Living.
